the wager of 1981

What a gamble to have children
Never knowing who and what they may become
What world they might grow in
What, in the end, will be their sum

So with that, I begin
My parents, I love
I thank.
Life for me, you have given me enough

And the road takes us places
We not always know where it may lead
But what a joy to know
Ive got all that I want, all that I need

Quarter of a century marked my 2006
And branded I am by the names that fill my life
Too many to list
But every one, a memory of mine

So blessed am I for your present
Monetary to customary
The song you sung, the music you provided
The pig you brought
The cake divided
In your absence, your thought
In your presence, your picture
The helping hands that made it all happen
Your smile, magic elation
You drove, you flew, you walked from afar
To Downey following a Hawaiian star
Rearranged your plans
For this night we dance
Brought food and wine
A call on my phone line
Decorated me in leis
Soaked me in a love haze
What a brilliant night you gave me
With your simple gestures of laughing
From a hula dancers hip
To a song by all our lips
Candles burning yearning my wish
But the wish was already true
I opened my eyes and saw you
Read you
Ate you
Sang you
Received you
Drank you
Cha-chad you
Ha-had you
Hugged you
Saved you

So I listened closely to all your voices
Took in and took part in all your give
It did not go unnoticed amongst all the drunken noises
All of you, is why I live

What fortune bestowed upon me
To exist these twenty five years
What fortune bestowed upon me
To have you as company

So this road, no we know not where it may lead
So many lands, so many places
Always in a race with our deeds
From taking a stand, to getting tripped up in our own head spaces
But I measure my measly twenty five years
By the treasures of spontaneity and all my clumsy tears
I am greater than that numeric sum
Because of you
I do mean each and every one

So many lands, so many places
So glad I got your faces
I won.
It was all worth the gamble

You are mystory
This is my life. Full.
