just when i thought i found my feet again
you came along and swept me away
wait.
i don't want to be just a good date
and i don't need another distraction
all these silly reactions
so warm
so fuzzy
i don't want to fit so perfectly
allow you to print so especially on my thoughts
in my text box
only to watch you walk away someday
only to be deleted by a whim
so premature these conclusions
only because i've already lived these illusions
i recognize this falling
my soul in a sink thawing
i don't want to wring you out
so i'm refusing to soak you up
i'm chucking it to luck
intriguing convenience
we just floated for a moment
a day or two of poetic brilliance
cruising through
dribbling about
smiling out loud
staring into you
i saw a glimpse of what could
what would if only--
but if only is always a fucked circumstance
never fresh
always used
nevertheless we'll stand in these little pictures and dance
slowly capturing every move, every look
so nice
so new
let's pretend
lend each other a phone call
then hold my hand
and let go
cause the song has ended
and the pictures are abstract
and the nonsense is familiar
and your sweeping look has got me acting like a girl
as i swirl into your chest, listening close to the irregular
reading between the lines of your words and find
i am not your perfect
and such the poet you are to seek romance
how wonderful the journey of wooing a lady
but i'm not the type
it isn't me
you're looking for something
and it isn't in me
... and the thoughts swimming in my head while almond eyes look into your beautiful
can i wake up to this face, sleep safe here in this place
is this skin a suitable pillow, your lips my hot cocoa
will these arms give me rest, are you more than a guest
can i pitch my tent here for awhile, in the end will it prove to be worthwhile
my eyelids anchor heavy
this good bye will prove easy
two nights
too much
better to not start
better hold on to that heart
save it for her
you'll know who she is
she's beautiful
like you
and she's waiting to be swept away
by you
